Archē Classical Academy was established in 2022 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Archē began with 40 students from Kindergarten to 6th grade. Archē has grown rapidly, welcoming 96 students for the 2024-2025 School Year and extending our reach to Jr. Kindergarten through 8th grade.
A Vision Takes Root
The vision for Archē originated from Corey and Julie Gellbaugh’s desire to find an educational approach that fosters their children’s academic and spiritual growth. Their search led them to the Association of Classical Christian Schools (ACCS), a model combining rigorous academics with a deep-rooted Biblical worldview focused on Christian values.
Attending an ACCS conference was a turning point for them. The conference underscored their belief in a school where education is not just about imparting knowledge but about shaping hearts and minds according to God’s truth. They felt a profound calling to bring this educational model to Carlisle.
Community and Commitment
Corey and Julie are natives of Carlisle, have a deep connection to the community and a strong desire to give back. Their dedication to giving back and creating a positive impact was one of the driving forces behind Archē. They want to positively impact Carlisle and be a beacon of light.
Julie Gelbaugh, the Head of School, brings her passion for education and leadership to every facet of the academy. She has a Master’s degree in speech-language pathology from Bloomsburg University and extensive experience with special needs students. Her background equips her to bring both heart and expertise to her role. Additionally, Julie is actively involved with the Carlisle Community Center, where she leads youth programs, including Baton Twirling.
Corey’s role at ACA is multifaceted. Corey has a bachelor’s in Mathematics from Wofford College and a master’s degree in Statistics from Ohio State University. Corey is an Application Architect. Corey frequently speaks at morning meetings and oversees extracurricular activities, including basketball and chess club. Corey loves teaching and often gives guest lectures across all grades. He is an ordained teaching elder at Ruler of Kings Church, the church he and Julie founded. As the school board president, he ensures that Archē stays true to its mission.
They have three children and reside in Carlisle. They truly represent the spirit of community and family that Archē is built upon.
Building a Supportive Network
From the beginning, the Gelbaughs recognized the necessity of a strong support system to bring their vision to life. They assembled a School Board of individuals who shared their belief in the transformative power of classical Christian education. The Board has provided financial resources, administrative expertise, and spiritual support, laying a solid foundation for the school’s growth and long-term success.
