At Archē Classical Academy, biblical values shape every part of our school life. Our curriculum follows the Classical Christian Education (CCE) model, which focuses on more than just academics or preparation for the workforce—it’s about building character and a Christ-centered way of life. We use a mix of resources from classical publishers along with our own experience to provide a well-rounded education.
What is Classical Christian Education (CCE)?
The emphasis is on how to think, not what to think. CCE combines a biblical worldview with teaching methods that match a child’s natural development. The curriculum integrates Biblical truths into every subject, encouraging students to explore the interconnectedness of knowledge and to see God’s glory in every field of study.
CCE focuses on building Christian virtues, Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric and on studying the Great Books to develop critical thinking.
Grammar, Logic, Rhetoric, and the Great Books
These skills empower students to think critically, express themselves clearly, and assess arguments thoughtfully.
- Grammar: Teaches the basics of language, like labeling and organizing thoughts.
- Logic: Focuses on clear thinking and building arguments based on facts without contradictions.
- Rhetoric: Teaches how to communicate ideas and persuade others effectively.
- Great Books: Studying great books engages students with different perspectives and ideas, building strong moral and intellectual foundations. Examples of the Great Books include The Iliad, Don Quixote, Hamlet, Pride and Prejudice, Moby-Dick, and The Catcher in the Rye.
Christ-centered Curriculum
We see all subjects as cohering in Christ. We recognize that God is the source of all knowledge and wisdom. We integrate Christ into every subject we teach.
- Math reflects God’s order in the universe.
- Science reveals His sustaining of creation.
- History unveils His plan for redemption.
- Language Arts reflect the thoughts of His image-bearers on history.
- Music and Art celebrate creativity inspired by God’s creation.
Additionally, our Latin program fosters a deeper understanding of the classical world, improving students’ comprehension of the Bible and theology while expanding their vocabulary significantly.
Customized Learning
Children are not cookie-cutter, and neither should their curriculum be. Children learn at different rates and in different ways, so their education should reflect that. Our Multi-Grade Classical Christian Education (CCE) model provides personalized learning by grouping students based on their skills rather than their age.
Benefits of Our Approach:
- Peer Learning: Younger students learn from older ones, while older students develop leadership skills.
- Tailored Instruction: Students receive lessons matching their skill levels, so a strong third-grade reader can work on fourth-grade material while staying socially and emotionally supported.
- Community and Collaboration: Students of different ages work together, building friendships and preparing for real-world interactions.
